The process of paying visitax is fairly simple and can be done online before or during your trip to Cancun. During the online payment process, you will need to provide basic information such as your name, passport number, and dates of travel. All major credit cards are accepted and the entire payment process should take no more than a few minutes. The online form allows for up to 10 people to be processed on one transaction making it easy for families or groups travelling together.

Once you’ve made the payment, you will receive a receipt via email that must be presented to security at the airport upon departure. The VISITAX voucher can also be scanned at most stores in the area to redeem discounts and souvenirs.

It’s important to note that this tax only applies to the state of Quintana Roo which includes popular destinations like Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, and Tulum. Those traveling to other parts of the country or to other states within Mexico won’t be subject to this tax. While some travelers have expressed concern over the new fee, the fact is that it’s a small price to pay for a trip to paradise.
